About Us

My love for the AmStaff/APBT began in my youth. Just the strong build and well deserved reputation for toughness were the first to strike me. When I was 17 I owned a young male pit bull for a short time, but he could never get along with our family pet, a GSD, so he moved on but I never stopped thinking of his loyal but outgoing "I can lick the world" attitude. In 1990, I decided I wanted a Bulldog to call my own. I fell in love with a photo of an AmStaff named "Hawk" at Keystones Kennels and ended up buying a femail and then some males to breed to her. These dogs were part Ruffian and part other lines and were bred from outstanding show dogs. Around this time I met Richard and Frances Gray at Rounder's Kennels in Texas who have the purest Ruffians alive and after becoming familiar with the line and some of the dogs themselves, I decided to use these dogs as the foundation for our kennel. I am very pleased with teh quality of animal I am seeing. We breed for the TOTAL dog - soundness, character, drive and athletic ability as well as conformation. A high level of prey drive is also important to any kind of work as are good nerves. "Wind" or the dogsrate of respiritory rate recovery is something all breeders should make efforts to improve. Let's also not forget Courage is proverbial! The AmStaff is a lot of dog in a small package and needs responsible owners as his future is truly in our hands. If you buy a dog or puppy from us it will be from a well researched linebreeding of the best dogs alive. I stand behind every one of them 100%. In the future, we will strive to bring tradition and modern breeding practice together and hopefully in closing I would like to recommend a book to you "Superdog" by Dr. Michael W. Fox, or his first book "Understanding your dog". In the years to come we will strive to bring together tradition and modern breeding practice so you can have a chance to know the truth of the breed.

NOTE- we also have ADBA American Pit Bull Terriers occasionally so watch our website for info.

"THE IDEAL DOG possesses certain inherent qualities of character. It is a friendly, good-natured family member; an alert courageous protector and an obedient companion. These qualities are not only the products of its upbringing and how it was taught to behave .They are also the result of its genetic endowment- the quality of its parents, its grandparents, and their parents too."
